Dear 4th Grade Families,

Happy Monday! This week is a short week, only 3 days, leading up to our Easter Break! We continue to learn new things while also adding some fun Easter activities into the mix.

Here’s an update of what we are currently learning in class! Don’t forget to check out our most recent episode of the 4th Grade Pod”class” linked below.

  • Wednesday, March 27: Living Stations of the Cross at 1:45pm (You are welcome to join if your schedule allows!)
  • Wednesday, March 27: Intermediate Centers – Easter Edition
  • Thursday, March 28: Easter Break begins – See you on April 8th when we return!
  • Math: Over these 3 days, we will focus on our Partial Quotients method and how we can use multiplication to help us in solving these problems.
  • Reading: Our Reading Groups will meet on Wednesday to do some follow-up activities for the books we have finished. As a class we are focusing on how to use context and text features to understand unfamiliar words.
  • Writing: Students continue working on their stories for our Classbook and we are very excited! More information to come your way soon about our book.
  • Grammar: no grammar focus this short week
  • Word Work: no word work this short week
  • Religion: This week, students learn about Holy Week and how we can prepare ourselves for Jesus’ Resurrection.
  • Science: Our paper cup telephones have been reinstated! Students worked collaboratively with partners and groups to make adjustments to their telephones and some things worked! ….other ideas didn’t – but that’s the beauty of experimentation!
  • Social Studies: Students read and learn about Miguel Hidalgo and Mexico’s independence. We learn how the Mission Era’s ending affected CA and get ready to dive into the Gold Rush!
Check out this episode to hear our multiplication songs for 6s, 7s, 8s, 9s, and 12s!

Happy Easter!

Ms. Schmaeling
