Dear Kindergarten Parents,

I hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed celebration of Easter! Our religion lessons continue with the fifty days of Easter. Religion book, chapter 19 has our  focus on Jesus the Light of the World. During the month of May, we will be using our class rosaries for prayer in honor of our Blessed Mother.

May Crowning after Mass on Friday- please join us if your schedule permits.

A special presentation on Monday, “The Language of the Drums.” Be sure to ask your children about this program!

4 girls will be celebrating their birthdays in May! Starting with Camila on May 1, Gisel the 16th, Helen the 19th, and Andrea on the 29th.

ELA: Our reading strategy this week is making predictions. Read aloud comprehension: fantasy and realism. Continued focus on capitalization and punctuation; sight word sentence work; letter/sound review /t/,/k/ and /n/.  We will be reading a non-fiction passage with response and start our own dictionaries. * A copy of your child’s poem needs to be turned this week. Please practice at home — each day we will practice in class.

EM: Geometry – section 7 has us working again with solid and plane shapes. A finish up activity in section 6 with mapping our room.

Science: Earth day and finishing our lesson on the water cycle.

Social Studies: continuing with our National Symbols – we will begin to discuss Memorial Day and do a project to honor those who served in the Military.

Next Friday is Jogathon – work on those pledges this week.

This week will have a full day on Friday!

God Bless your families,

Mrs. Carol Brown
