Hello Families!
Here we are at the beginning of our Thanksgiving week! Tomorrow we are looking forward to making our Stone Soup as a class. We are continuing to read a collection of Stone Soup tales that come from different places around the world too. With them, we are looking at characters, problems, solutions, and settings. Because the tale is becoming more and more familiar, we are more comfortable with comparing and contrasting the stories.
This week we completed our gingerbread people who will be traveling all across the United States. Our class is part of 20 other classes that are K-2 which will be sending each other gingerbread people. Along with the decorated gingerbread each student made, we wrote a letter as a class to send with them. It included facts about California and Ventura. We also wrote about our classroom favorites: our favorite books, games, and what we love to study. I projected my document on the whiteboard and they all told me something they loved about first grade. They were very serious about getting everything down!
In math, we practiced making numbers in multiple ways. We also stretched ourselves by doing two-step problems. In reading we are continuing to learn about the ways “s” can make words plural.

A special thank you goes out to our older students who came to our room during the week to do Thanksgiving and saint activities with us.

Have a wonderful Week!
