First Grade Families-

It is our last week of school with lots of fun learning!

Weekly Homework

Homework due EVERY Tuesday

Homework will resume upon our return in January.

Sneak Peek to our Academic Week

Word Work: We took our last spelling test for this year on Monday.

Reading/Phonics:   We continued reviewing our missions.

Word Detectives has been the highlight in our class. A few things we will learn in the next few days:

*Word Detectives (WD) notice tough words as they read and stop to solve these words right away.

*Looking closely at words to get clues, making sure they look across the WHOLE word to solve it.

*WD use all they know to solve problems.

*WD do a S-L-O-W check

*What do good partners do? Students will work with partners while reading.

We worked on “THE CASE OF THE SILENT E.” We are looking for words with silent e at the end.

Writing/Grammar: We are making cards for our parents. SHHHH!

Math:  We are working on odd and even numbers.

Religion:   We are focusing on our third week of Advent, JOY! How can we bring joy to others without buying something for them.

Art: We made our snowman with Ms. Spooner! We will be making a Christmas tree using pastels with ME!

Science: Last week, we did a stem activity with marshmallows. Students were required to make a snowman but needed to be standing. This was a challenge for all. This week we make a christmas tree with gumdrops. The students worked in groups of 3. Students were able to discuss their plan and execute their thinking! It was so much fun!
