Hello Families!

I hope everyone had a wonderful break! We are officially in the last three weeks before the new year.  today is the end of the first trimester too! Last week we enjoyed making our soup! Opening up our pumpkin and doing our science exploration of what makes a pumpkin unique. We have dried out our seeds and will finish our pumpkin science packet by discovering if our estimations of how many seeds were correct this week! We are finishing up our Stone Soup unit this week by reading and analyzing the different story components of our books. So far, I think they loved the Stone Soup version set in China!

Overlapping our Stone Soup literature unit is our Gingerbread unit. We have read a couple of stories so far and participated in a gingerbread person exchange with 20 other schools in the United States. We completed our class notes to go along with them on their journey.

We took a break from our introduction to time and focused on subtraction this last week. We are getting a bit mixed up with the math signs for subtraction vs. addition. These next few weeks will be a review of subtraction and the last week before Christmas break will be a mixed review of seeing subtraction and addition on the same page. When we come back from our Christmas break we will officially begin diving into our unit on time!
