Dear Parents,                          February 26, 2018

Here’s what we are doing in first grade…

Language Arts: We have a lot going on in phonics this week! We are looking at the long /i/ sound spelled “ie” and “igh”. In addition we are also looking at the /oo/ sound as in “moon”. This /oo/ sound has a lot of spellings – “ew”, “ue”, “u”, “ou” and “oo”. Our spelling words do not come from our spelling book this week however, we will still have 6 sentences and our spelling test on Friday.

Math: We are wrapping up Unit 6. We will be reviewing data collection this week before our test on Thursday.

Science: We will be taking a break from science this week as we focus on traveling for our school fair project!

Social Studies: We will be flying around again this week! Please ask your students where we are traveling!

Religion: We will be reading from our textbooks this week: Chapter 17: Jesus Calls Himself the Good Shepherd.
