A SNEAK PEEK AT OUR ACADEMICS

Language Arts

Grammar/Writing: We are working on writing more than one page on a topic. This week we will begin to add some more information on each page.

We are reading different topics to be able to become an expert on a topic. I recommend you read nonfiction books at home when possible.

Reading/Phonics: In phonics, we will be studying our new word wall words (jump, don’t, best, think, just, with, from). We are looking at words that contain blends at the beginning of words and end of words (st, bl, nt, mp).

In reading, we are learning to “chat” about what we are learning about from our nonfiction books.  We are discussing what we have learned so we can remember the information.

Example: I learned that baby Koalas are called joeys. Hmmm….That is what we call baby kangaroos. I wonder how long a Koalas stay in their mother’s pouch.

Math: Review math worksheet for next week’s math test. We are learning a new “top it” game this week. We are working on finding a missing addend (___+8=10 ). Please work on double facts at home.

Science: Why can we see stars only at night?

Religion: We will be making cards for our priests for Parish appreciation day! We are reflecting on our SLE’s and how we practice them daily in class.
