Hello-

First Graders are working hard in all subjects. I have sent an email reminding all to save the date for Nov. 20th. Please read the Religion section carefully. Take a look at our week.

HOMEWORK

Reading Log: Please read 20 min. daily

FLUENCY: This week I have asked the kids to record themselves reading their passage but at the end of the week. Please read the directions on Seesaw.

Sight Words: Reminder to study sight words daily. We have started assessments and may continue into next week.

MATH IXL: A.4, A.7, and R. 4

Spelling: Study for spelling test on Monday.

SNEAK PEEK AT OUR WEEK!

Here are a few skills we are working on in Reading:

*reading and remembering the story.

*rereading book

* looking for snap words (sight words) before reading

*Guess the feeling of the character as you read

*Sounding out words while we read but don’t forget to reread the whole sentence

Here are a few skills we are working on in Phonics

*reviewing vowels, digraphs, and blends.

*students are stretching out words to write them especially the tricky blends and digraphs

Math: We continue reviewing time by the hour and half hour, drawing a clock, adding, and exchanging pennies for nickels. Don’t forget to practice skip countings by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s.

Religion: We added our prayers to our prayer journal. All the prayers in the journal must be mastered (memorized) by the end of first grade.

Saints’ parade is on November 20th! Please send me an email with your top 3 saints so we can avoid repeats. I will confirm your saint via email. Once it’s confirmed you can start getting their costumes ready.

REMINDERS
