Fourth Grade News,
Week of February 7, 2011
I am happy that many of you were able to join us last Friday for Parents’ Day. I know the children enjoyed sharing their California map and facts projects with you.
The Gold Rush is on! Tomorrow morning our science lab will be transformed into an 1849 style San Francisco market. The students will be shown a variety of methods used for panning gold and will get to experience a little of what life was like during this period.
Our chapter 5 social studies test will be Thursday. We continue our unit on measurement during math time. A wrap-up of the novel and vocabulary review are the plans for reading this week. Science brings us to the study of magnetism and electromagnets. Our religion focus will be the Liturgy of the Word portion of mass.
Our class has had many absences due to illness recently. We are in need of more antibacterial wipes, so if you are out and about please try to pick-up a few containers and send them to school. I would appreciate it.
Valentine Day is Monday the 14th. We will exchange cards and have a party in the afternoon. Each child should bring a valentine for everyone in the class. The students will also be making cards that I will drop off at Alma Villa Assisted Living Facility in Camarillo.
A reminder to pick up a copy of our next novel The Cricket in Times Square, if you have not yet done so.
Have a blessed week,
Mrs. Sharon Redmond
