We begin speech presentations this week; all students will be reciting the poems they have chosen to memorize. We are also preparing for our musical program next Wednesday evening, which means practicing at home and bringing recorders on Mondays and Wednesdays. This Friday is a half-day. Reminder: Please sign and return your child’s progress report envelope.

THE WEEK AHEAD:

HOMEWORK: Students will be doing the following ixL skills this week: Math E 4 and E 7, and Language F 6. We will be doing Fluency #29, and students should be reading for 20-30 minutes per night. The reading log, ixL skills and fluency homework will be due next Monday. Students should complete the Math Boxes on pages 156 and 159 by Friday.

DAILY WORK

Religion: We continue our study of the commandments, focusing on the 6th and 9th, and the 7th and 10th.

Math: We continue working on division, and will also be drawing and measuring angles.

Reading Workshop: We continue reading our historical fiction “book club” selections.

Writing Workshop: We are writing the first chapter, which is general information related to our chosen topics.

Spelling: We are working on Unit 29; the test will be on Friday

Vocabulary: We continue work on Unit 13; the test will be on Friday.

Grammar: We continue discussing adverbs, and will learn about prepositional phrases.

Science: We continue discussing weathering and erosion.

Social Studies: We will continue learning about the westward movement and the adventurous men and women who moved into California in the mid 1800’s, and then on to the Gold Rush!
