This week in fourth grade 🙂

Math:  We continue learning more about fractions and do some review before the chapter 5 math TEST scheduled for Wednesday, January 23rd.

Science:  Students are having fun learning about the rocks and minerals that make up Earth’s crust.  This week in science lab they will be using their hand lenses to look for  different characteristics between igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks.  The TEST for this section (chapter 5) will be next Tuesday, January 22nd.

Social Studies: We will be reading about and discussing what happens when Mexico gains independence from Spain.

English:  The use of adjectives in sentences is continued.  We will also review nouns and verbs this week.

Religion:  The Ten Commandments continue to be our focus.  This week we will also discuss moral choice and free will.

Our poetry booklets will be put together this week.  Thank you for making copies of your students’ poems.  We have been discussing the many characteristics of poetry since the beginning of the school year and it will be fun for the students to have this variety to keep. The ability to distinguish between poetry, prose, and drama, is one of our fourth grade common core standards for English Language Arts.

Have a blessed week!

Mrs. Sharon Redmond
