This week in grade four we continue our discussion of the earliest California natives.  The students will also try their hand at basket weaving (the paper kind!)  It is always a lot of fun.

The children continue to write essays on a memorable vacation or family celebration. I am walking them through the steps of  writing, including pre-write, rough draft, revision, editing, and publishing.  I am quite impressed with their work so far!

In math we continue to explore multiplication. Our focus will be multiplying two digits by two digits.  This week we continue with prime and composite numbers, factors, and multiples.  A test on these concepts will be given on Tuesday,October 23rd.

For religion, we delve into a discussion of the Ten Commandments and what each really means.  This is an ongoing focus for fourth grade and will be explored all year,  beginning with the first commandment.

The social studies #2 vocabulary test will be given on Thursday.  Students have had these vocabulary words for three plus weeks.  Homework assignments have included a review of the words daily throughout this period.  If the words have been reviewed nightly, as assigned, the test will not be difficult.  A reminder that all social studies, science, and spelling words are also available on spelling city.  All flashcards, crossword puzzles, match games, etc., are available as print outs because we have purchased a premium membership.  Please take advantage of these great resources.
