Dear Third Grade Families,
In these final two weeks of school, the third grade class will be spending a lot of time reviewing concepts taught throughout the year as well as individually assessing student progress. Friday is finally move-up day, a chance for students to get a look at their new classrooms. We all look forward to seeing that the future holds.
Math: We will continue with Chapter 12, introducing multi-digit multiplication and division concepts. I will continue to assess students on their math facts with the hope that every student will complete Top 21 by the end of the school year. Automaticity in multiplication and division facts is essential for success in 4th grade, so keep studying! We will continue Accelerated Math through Thursday.
Language Arts: Spelling – We will not have spelling or vocabulary words this week. Rather, we will review in class. Writing – We will work with the goal of getting every student published by the end of the week. However, this requires that all students extensively revise their personal narratives. As I have emphasized all year, the writing process is a process and requires work at every stage. Reading – We will complete our study of perspective and voice in The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs. There will be no reading logs.
Science: We plan to complete Chapter 2, Lesson 2 “Habitats Change.”
Social Studies: We will wrap up with our final lessons on the Chumash.
Religion: We will be working on our “Family Life” series, a 2 week unit on God’s gift of each and every family.
Have a great week!
All the Best,
Mrs. Espinosa
