Dear Third Grade Parents and Families,
Our trip to the Sea Center was a hit! The day couldn’t have been any better with the sun shining and no traffic to or from Santa Barbara. Once we got there, the students had a moment to enjoy their snacks on the boardwalk with a stunning view of the beach. In the Sea Center, we were divided into three groups each starting at a different station: sharks, tide pools or the wet deck. We spent 20 minutes with a docent in each of the three and all had the opportunity to touch the sea creatures. For the second half of our visit, we went outside onto the beach were we studied several different marine birds. Each using individual pairs of binoculars, students had a chance to explore and compare their findings with the field guides. After this, we walked across the street over to Chase Palm Park where we enjoyed our lunch and even played a game or two on the grass led by Mrs. Peterson. All in all, it was a great day!
This week is a short one with only two full days of school followed by a noon dismissal. Wednesday morning we will be celebrating Thanksgiving mass with our “families.” Later, we will also enjoy a Thanksgiving craft in our class.
Since it is a short week, we will only have Homework on Monday and Tuesday nights. Of course we will have our Reading Log and Daily Language Review. In addition, you will also see a Social Studies assignment that goes along the individual timelines we are making in class. As always, we will have accelerated math. However, there will be no spelling this week.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Mrs. Espinosa
