Thank you for getting your children ready for the poetry contest. The poems are all good and they are enjoying reciting in class. Over the weekend continue to practice at home. Next week we will compete in class. Five students will be selected for judging on April 9.

Read together each night find sight words and sound out more difficult words. Look for the sight word lists in your child’s homework folder and practice at home. Kindergartners should know 50 words before First Grade.

  • Required work for next week:
  • Writing assignment- “Windy Day” – Wonder who is flying the kite? Draw who they think is flying the kite. Tell in one or two sentences who is flying the kite. Your children can use their imagination when writing or it can be a real life piece. They should write one or two good sentence(s) with correct punctuation. “I think it is a _____flying the kite.” “It is fun to fly the kite.” use examples if needed.
  • 120 number grid puzzle – this can be a challenge -cut out the blocks of numbers. Have your child start at the top with number 1, 2, 3 cut out that block of numbers and check to see if it fits on the blank 120 grid paper. Follow with next block of numbers continuing to check before pasting.
