Dear Kindergarten Families,

This week’s homework consists of 2 worksheets and a reading log. Chapter 2 in Math has us working with patterns.  Please assist your child  (if needed) with the “Patterns That Are the Same”. Phonemic Awareness: /m/ is a paper from our practice reading/phonics book. Read directions to your child at the bottom of the page to complete both sides of this worksheet. To go along with our goals in these subjects I am encouraging visiting websites that enhance our daily work.

In our lab, your child has been practicing patterns and sight words with the following activities/games on the computers. Math practice includes a balance scale in which geometric shapes can be put into patterns. Click on Pan Balance to get to this site.  We have been practicing simple sentences by making comics with our sight words. Using the sight words, “I see a … ” or ” I see my…” have your child make a comic. In the lab we have been making a one scene comic, at home it is your choice to make a one, two, three, or six panel comic. Click on link Comic Creator . Coloring the comic would be nice, if time allows. PBS kids has a fun comic creator as well. Click on Arthur to create a comic from this site.

I would like to see a comic printed and returned from each child. We will share comics in class on Friday and Monday.  Either site is fine, this is meant to be enjoyable using simple words and pictures. These websites are a part of the homework assignment, along with daily reading, and the two worksheets. If you cannot print, please write this on the assignment sheet.

Please email me with any questions or concerns.
