Dear Kindergarten Parents and Families,

Here we are back for the New Year!  I hope all families had a wonderful and blessed Christmas enjoying that quality time together. We had a great Christmas party! THANKS are in order for our room moms and all who were able to help in class and from home. All did an excellent job with preparations for the crafts and treats we made and ate!

January brings three birthdays in our class-Matthew, Emma and Taliya!

This week we will remember Epiphany, the Wise Men and what gifts we can bring to Jesus. Our SLE focus will be C.1 “Take care of God’s world”. And to review A.3 “Help others at home, school and in the world.”

As we start the new year a review all 26 letters and their respective sounds to start reading simple words and sentences in level reading books. We will work on sight words and word families. Grammar and sentence structure will be a big component of our second semester.

Our math focus will continue with probability, place value, counting money, patterns, addition/subtraction with objects, and word stories (problems).

This week we will focus on Earth Science: identifying our natural resources and conservation, along the season and weather change. Next week, an outreach program on insects, the Ladybug Lady and her Creepy Crawly Friends

I enjoyed reading the animal reports from the last homework in December. We will spend time reading together which animal your student chose. The World Book Web is an excellent resource which we will be using in class and for homework.

Social Studies – work with the relative locations of objects using the terms near/far, left/right, and behind/in front. Map and globe skills to distinguish between land / water and general areas referenced in history and present day.

Friday is a full day-dismissal at 2:45

Blessings,

Mrs. Carol Brown
