February a busy month starting by celebrating Catholic Schools Week!

  • Valentine’s Day!!
  • Three day weekend President’s Day !!

We learn how much we are loved through Jesus as he showed love to everyone. Turning to ourselves we show love and kindness to others. Learning how our hands help at home, school, our community.

The season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday March 2.

We will attend Mass on Ash Wednesday morning at 8:30 – parents and family members are welcome to join us.

Academics:

Phonics – letter/sounds and word family words ‘at, ad, an’ also we are learning digraphs /sh/, /ch/ as beginning sounds.

Reading – reading a sentence, passage or story several times for fluency. We are reading with our super powers by sounding out words and looking at the pictures for clues to read difficult words.

Writing – reviewing our narrative writing and getting ready to start “how to” writing using a 3 steps: first, next and last.

Math – money, measurement, place value, number grid, addition and subtraction facts to 20.

Science – lab on colors this week (shades of brown) – winter animals – gardening will begin soon!

Social studies – information on our presidents and continuing on with Black History month. All through the month we focus on people of color who have and are doing great things for our country.
