Dear Kindergarten Families,

It was nice visiting with families last week for conference. Back to full days and on with the goals for this trimester!

This week we review the main events in the life of Jesus, the Magi and an introduction to the Holy Trinity.

A unit on nouns, continued letter/sounds, simple sentences and correct letter as well as number formation.

Math finds us working to survey and tally. Your child may need a bit of help with tally marks for homework this week. Addition and subtraction to and within ten. We need to be quick with these combinations.

Learning about Martin Luther King Jr and his message of peace and equality will comprise our Social studies work this week.

Backyard Science – observing, measuring, and writing about our garden. In a week or so Snow Peas will be ready to harvest! We also have several monarch caterpillars in the milkweed beds.

This Friday is a noon dismissal and Monday we observe MLK holiday with a day off school.

Homework

I have included two book response forms. Please do one or both. We are reading non-fiction books in class and used the form to report on the Arctic Fox. Help your child to understand 2 facts and write in the box. The Book Nook form for setting/character – please use pictures and words to compete these papers. Work neatly on the math paper using nice straight tally marks and writing numerals correctly.

IXL practice

T.1 take apart numbers using cubes

T.2 take apart 10 using cubes

Z. 2 read along with realistic fiction

Homework is due next Wednesday, January 17.

Blessings,

Mrs. Brown
