Dear Second Grade Families,

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday and weekend.  Today begins the second trimester of our school year!!  I cannot believe we’ve been in school 71 days!  We have an exciting week ahead of us.

Here are a few reminders of activities this week as well as a little change with homework:

Flat People update: We are receiving mail almost daily. Ask your child if he/she has received mail. You may need to make a reminder phone call. Our next mailing will be for Christmas.

Teddy Bear and Friends Day is Monday, December 3rd (Donate a new teddy bear to Adopt-A-Family.)

We will have Captain Romero visit our school on Tuesday.  This will conclude our week with the story “A Trip to the Firehouse”.  The children cannot wait!

HOMEWORK:   Reading Log & Fluency There will be a few changes with homework.  The reading log has changed.  The children must write a complete sentence or two to answer the questions after they have finished their reading.  The 20 minutes of the reading log should include the writing section.   I would like the kids to dedicate their time writing the title & author neatly.  Therefore, I will only send the reading log and fluency this week.  I will alternate fluency and common core homework for the next 3 weeks.   If you have any questions please email me at secondgrade@sacredheartschoolventura.org

IN THE CLASSROOM…

RELIGION:  We will also continue learning about and practicing love and respect for others and ourselves.  We are focused on our SLE A4:  Make good choices like Jesus.  We are learning to recognize that our actions show how we care for each other.
