Dear Families,

The students are very excited and have been working very hard preparing for the Intermediate Spring Musical performance.  The performance will be on April 9th at 6:30.  It will be a great show!

The Speech Contest will take place in May.  By the week of May 5th, students are to commit to memory a published poem selection with a minimum of 25 lines. There are no props for the 5th grade.

I am asking each student to donate one box of tissues  to the classroom this week. We are almost out!

Wednesday is Stations of the Cross at 2pm. Please join us if your schedule allows.  Friday is a noon dismissal.  Below is an overview of our week:

Math:  Students are to complete 3 ACC assignments by Friday.  For IXL.com the sections is M.1, add and subtract fractions with like denominators.  Students need to spend an average of 20 minutes on the assigned IXL section to receive full credit.  Our focus this week is to find common denominators and to continue to use benchmarks to estimate sums and differences.  We will also use multiplication tables to explore equivalent fractions.

Religion:  Chapter 8.  We will discuss how the Word of God can be applied to life situations.

Social Studies:  Chapter 8.  We will interpret the goals and intent of the Second Continental Congress.  We will also compare and contrast the British army with the Continental army.

Science:  We will be learning about the sequential steps of the digestive system. We will focus on the roles of each part of the digestive system.

Vocabulary: Unit 10

Grammar:  Unit 4.  We will be focusing on prepositional phrases.  We will be taking our Unit four grammar test this  Thursday.

ELA:  We continue with our book, The House of Dies Drear.
