Ready for a hot week!!!! During these next few day, we will try our best to stay cool. Please send plenty of water so our second graders can stay hydrated. We have lots to do this week from tests to primary centers.

Homework of the week:
Fluency
IXL: L.1 and M.1
Spelling City: Password and Username required. See attached letter in student planner.
Spelling Homework: Unit 4…Your child can use the premium activities on spellingcity.com. Your child should complete the assignments that are assigned to them by Monday. They will get an opportunity on Monday during class to work on spelling city assignments.
Reminder: Students must fill out the reading log completely on their own with pencil.
Our academic week includes:
Language Arts: We will wrap up Dragon Gets By this week. We will be getting started on guided reading books this week and next week. We will be focusing on checking for understanding and accuracy. We are working diligently with summarizing/retelling stories. Please ask your child to summarize what they have read at home.
We will also finish reading Flat Stanley this week.
Math: We will complete Unit 1 on Wednesday with a test. Review 1.11 and 1.12 on everydaymath.com. We will begin Unit 2 Lesson 1 on Thursday.
Religion: Jesus is a Gift from God; Parable of the vine and branches
Science/Social Studies: Plant Life Cycle/map skills
Art: Fall Tree using tempera paints, watercolors and crayons (completing art project from last week).
