Dear Parents, January 28, 2013
Thank you to all the parents for supporting our school and visiting with us on Friday. I hope you enjoyed your visit to our classroom. I know the students were very excited to show you our “word work time” and our favorite math game.
We have some exciting news in First Grade. This week we welcome not one, but two new students! Sienna and Joaquin are both very excited to be a part of our SHS family and will be a wonderful addition to our class.
We will focus this week on wrapping up our Theme 5. We will review all grammar, comprehension skills, phonics, and reading strategies throughout the week. We will have new spelling words from Unit 19. These words will reinforce our use of digraphs.
Math this week, finds us continuing our work on pattern recognition and counting by fives! In religion, we are focusing on how Jesus Shows God’s love. In social studies we continue with our study the land around us, with a particular focus on resources. In science we will take our test on environments and begin our chapter on habitats beginning with vocabulary.
