We are entering our second and last week of ITBS testing. I have spread out the testing so as not to be so overwhelming. The second graders are doing their best in all the areas. We are looking forward to our last day of testing on Thursday. I hope to see all the Flat Second Graders coming in on Monday morning.
Great News! We have a new student. We would like to welcome Lauryn to our class. The kids have been wonderful in showing Lauryn around our school & teaching her our class procedures. 🙂
Homework: Homework & COMMON CORE HOMEWORK
In addition, I am sending their spelling homework in their homework folder. Please return ALL homework stapled on Friday. Reminder, your child’s planner should be signed daily. The planner is important to sign daily because it is one way we can communicate with each other.
Spelling City: Click on “Spelling City” to have your child practice their spelling words before our spelling test on Thursday.
STUDENT OF THE WEEK will begin in October. Names are picked at random, lottery style. The second grader will bring a letter and a poster home on Friday to be completed and returned on the following Monday. The second grader is to do the writing and decorating, but you can help with ideas and spelling. FRIDAY is an early dismissal day.
HERE’S A QUICK LOOK AT OUR WEEK (INCLUDING ITBS TESTING)
RELIGION:. A reminder to return your child’s decorated candle by Tuesday. We will begin sharing our Baptism mementos. I will return mementos as soon as your child shares it with the class this week We are still discussing Baptism and ways we belong to God’s Church; God speaks to us through the Bible, the Old Testament (stories about God’s plan for all people) and New Testament (stories of Jesus and the early Church). Jesus speaks to us about God’s love.
SAINTS are people who heard God speaking to them. Look for your child’s saint assignment next week. This will be the same saint for our famous SAINTS’PARADE on Friday, November 2nd.
