It was a pleasure meeting with everyone last week to discuss your child’s success and progress in Second Grade. We still have a lot to learn in next few months.

ACADEMICS

Reading: As we read more books on a topic, we gain more knowledge about that topic.

Phonics: We continue reviewing Phonological Awareness. We are listening and identifying different word endings (-ing, -ed, -er, -s, and -es).

Spelling: No new sorts this week as we continue reviewing old sorts.

Math: We are learning how to read a thermometer, identify the temperature, and solve number stories about temperature change. We are also finding the total values of coins and classifying geometric shapes.

Writing: We began a new unit: Nonfiction Writing. We are brainstorming topics on which we are experts.

Religion: We are learning that Jesus forgives us of our sins through a priest in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Social Studies: We will be learning about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Science: We will be learning the importance of sunlight to plants.
