I hope everyone enjoyed the long holiday weekend. Here’s a sneak peek at our week.

ACADEMICS

Reading: As readers of nonfiction books, we retell what we have learned about topics.

Phonics: We continue reviewing Phonological Awareness. We are learning about words ending with -le and -tion, how to change the y to i and add -ies or -ied for plural words, and about the diagraphs wr, gn, and kn.

Spelling: New sorts were distributed today. Please check your child’s planner for their new sort. Spelling tests will be given next Monday. Some groups may spend two weeks on their sorts.

Math: We are learning to estimate costs, calculate the cost of two items, and make change.

Writing: Nonfiction Writing – we are learning to write about things of which we have expertise. We are learning how to write, reread, and think of additional information to include in our writing.

Religion: We are learning that the Holy Spirit helps us look at our conscience in order to become better people.

Social Studies: We will finish up our lesson on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and we will be learning about another person who has influenced our lives, Katherine Goble Johnson.

Science: We will be learning if cacti should be watered.
