Dear Kindergarten Parents,

We will have an on campus field trip program today, which ties nicely with our science unit on animal studies and observations. Marla the Mermaid is a trained professional who teaches an interpretative outreach program from the City of Ventura.

She will introduce marine animals using puppets and songs to convey information and our kinders will have an opportunity to look and touch a variety of natural materials. She does an excellent job putting on this program. Be sure to ask your children all about this great program!

School pictures are on Wednesday -Uniform dress please-payment forms are due that day or if they come in early, I will hold on to them.

This week is a full week with a 2:45 dismissal on Friday.

Our religion lessons continue with an understanding of love through Jesus and knowing His name is holy.  We always say His name with love. We are reading stories from the Children’s Bible, knowing it is a holy book, which tells us stories of God’s love for us.

Language Arts begins a theme 1, where we are using comprehension strategies, compare and contrast and noting important details as we listen to stories. We will work on phonemic awareness: rhyming words and beginning sounds.  Previewing the alphabet, and a lot of print practice will be ongoing in our centers.

Math has us sorting objects color, size and by shape. This week I will introduce geometric shapes solids and flat.

Upcoming events:

October: a walk to the Fire Station– look for details and permisson slips coming home in the next couple of weeks.

The Saint’s Parade November 2- information coming home next week to allow plenty of time to think about who your little ‘saint’ will portray.

Please contact me with any questions or concerns via email.

Have a blessed week!

Mrs. Carol Brown
