The 6th and 7th grade are studying the interesting dynasties of Ancient China. This year the Lunar New Year began on Sunday and it is the year of the rabbit. Mrs. Morales Ruiz prepared a very interesting and fun lesson on tea. She explained the Lunar and Solar calendar and the role tea plays in the culture of China. She even tied it in to today’s culture with coffee shop orders. Each student could choose trying green or peppermint tea and got a treat of almond and fortune cookies. They also got the special red envelopes given out during the new year filled with a fortune and other treasures plus a red lantern. It was a memorable and exciting day!
