Dearest Third Grade Families,
Happy President’s Day! I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend and was able get a little extra rest in.
This week we’ll be studying the following:
Math: The class will continue with Unit 6 (Geometry) covering lessons 6.4, 6.5 and 6.6 . As always, I would encourage you to follow along with us by completing the “Home Links” at www.everydaymathonline.com. Your child’s username and password can be found in his/her planner.
Likewise, we continue to practice our multiplication and division facts. Take a look in your child’s planner for the latest progress report and individual goal.
Please note: There will be no IXL math homework this week. Rather, students should use their time preparing their solar system projects for next week’s School Fair.
Reading: This week most reading groups will continue In the Year of the Boar and Jackie Robinson by Bette Bao Lord and Marc Simont.
Please note: There will be no Reading Log this week either. I’d like to give students as much time as possible to work on their science projects.
English: The class will continue Unit 3: Verbs with Lessons 21 & 22 (Main/Helping Verbs, Using Have/Has/Had). Students are encouraged to study along using the Grammar Workshop series online. The Unit 3 Test will take place Friday, March 7th.

Vocabulary: This week we begin Unit 12. Our next vocabulary quiz will next Friday. As a reminder, all words as well as activities and a practice quiz can be found at the Vocabulary Workshop website.
Science: Next Wednesday is the School Fair!!! Students should bring in their projects no earlier than Tuesday, February 25th. Click here for the directions.
Social Studies: The class will learn about the life of Harriet Tubman and continue to learn about the importance of rules and laws in our communities.
Religion: This week the class will continue Chapter 22, “God Blesses Contrite Hearts.” The chapter quiz will be this Friday. Click here for the Chapter Study Guide.
