Third grade families,

This week marks the beginning of March and third trimester! As I have mentioned before, I am so proud of the progress every student has made, and I look forward to what this last trimester brings!

Important dates:

This Friday, March 8this a full day.

No school on Monday, March 11th.

Homework this week:

  • IXL Math:  G.1, J.1, J.4, S.1 (this skill was completed earlier in the school year, but please, let’s run through it again!)
  • Fluency
  • 100 minutes of reading and logged.

Math: This week we continue on with unit 5, beginning to recognize what decimals are. This week decimals will be introduced as we learn about the tenth and hundredth places.

Reading: We have reached the final bend of our non-fiction reading. We will spend this week reviewing and practicing all of the skills we have learned in our non-fiction reading unit. Next up, character studies!

Writing: This week we also wrap up our Unit 2 of informational writing. During the rest of this week we will continue to perfect our craft, and work specifically on our introduction and conclusion paragraphs in our informational writing. Next week we will begin opinion writing!

Spelling: Spelling words can be found in your child’s planner and/or spellingcity.com. Spelling tests are scheduled for this Friday.

Religion: As we step into our Lenten season, we will discuss the importance of Lent and why it is such a special season to us all. We will be going to mass on Wednesday morning to receive our ashes.

Science: Continuing with fossils, learning all we can before we create our own fossils next week!

Have a wonderful week,

Miss Poindexter
