Hello Third Grade Families!
Don’t forget to send your child with a reusable water bottle (or two). This week promises to be a scorcher!
In class this week, we’ll be studying the following:
Math: We will continue Unit 2 with Lessons 2.2 – 2.5. Feel free to follow along with us at www.everydaymathonline.com. Your child’s username and password can be found in his/her planner. This is an excellent resource for reinforcing math skills introduced in class.
For IXL math homework, please complete the following Third Grade skills:
I.4 Addition and Subtraction Word Problems
C.2 Addition Input/Output Tables
C.8 Addition Patterns Over Increasing Place Values
As always, all three skills must be complete by Monday.
Spelling: Click here to download this week’s spelling words and pattern/principle. Our next spelling test will be this Friday.
Vocabulary: We will begin Unit 3 with our next quiz on Friday 9/26. For a list of the words, definitions and additional practice go to the vocabulary workshop site. Instructions, along with a username and password can be found taped on the inside cover of your child’s planner.
Reading: As a reminder, Thursdays are our school library days. Please remind your child to bring any books that are checked out so that they may be renewed or check back in.
This week in small group reading we continue our Unit 1 books, all by children’s author Ann Cameron!
Click here to download the Reading Log. As a reminder, all students are to read for a minimum of 20 minutes each night.
Like the Reading Log, this is due every Monday. It is also part of the nightly homework.
English: We will continue with Unit 1 in our Grammar books moving on to Lesson 6 after we review Lessons 4 & 5. There will be a short quiz on simple subject and simple predicates on Thursday. Log on to the Grammar Workshop website for additional practice and skills reinforcement. Directions can be found in your child’s planner.
Science: In class we will begin Chapter 6, Lesson 3 “How Does Heat change Matter?”
Social Studies: We will be learning all about landscapes and physical features including: plateaus, landforms, mountain ranges, valleys and coastal plains.
Religion: The class will continue with Chapter 24 while spending some time learning about prayer and how we pray. Click here for the Chapter 24 Study Guide.
Have a Great Week!
