Sneak Peek of our Academic Week

math: This week we set off on our unit 2. This week we will focus on What’s My Rule Number Functions and part-part-total boxes. These are ways and strategies we can use when adding and subtracting in word problems.

To better tackle those tricky word problems, we will also learn how to CUBE it out! Please encourage your kiddos to use this method when breaking down word problems in homework 🙂

C: circle the numbers
U: underline the question
B: box the key words
E: eliminate any extra information

reading: In reading this week, we continue to focus on prediction & envisioning. During our reading time, we spend a lot of it in our small, differentiated reading groups. In these groups, we are reading books at our level and practicing all of our great reading skills throughout.

writing: We continue working on our personal narratives. This week, we will work on our leads (the beginnings of our writing). When writing a lead, we want to make sure we hook our readers in the best way!

word work: We continue on with Words Their Way! This is our differentiated spelling program where we focus on spelling patterns to help us become the best spellers we can be! Spelling words can be found on Vocabulary A-Z + in your child’s planner. It’s always great to practice these throughout the week!

grammar: All about regular plural nouns.

religion: This week in religion we will learn all about the bible story: David & The Lion’s Den. We will also continue to focus on The Apostles Creed and working on this prayer until memorization. It’s also important for us to understand why is this prayer so important to our faith.
We will begin attending 8:30a mass this Friday, October 13! Come join us if your schedule allows!

social studies: ME on the MAP. What is our exact location on a map?

Have a wonderful week!
