Sneak Peek of our Academic Week

math: We begin our new geometry unit! This week we will learn all about lines, line segments, and rays. Then, we will step into parallel, intersecting, and perpendicular lines.

reading: This week in reading we work on identifying the main idea and supporting details in stories. We will practice this skill with a Pixar Short, Monster Box, our class read aloud The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, and in non-fiction books in our small, differentiated reading groups.

writing: When writing non-fiction books, we want to make sure we are choosing to incorporate good word choice, details, and transitions. We will work on those three writing strategies to perfect our informational reports this week!

word work: We continue on with Words Their Way! This is our differentiated spelling program where we focus on spelling patterns to help us become the best spellers we can be. Spelling words can be found on Vocabulary A-Z + in your child’s planner. It’s always great to practice these throughout the week.

religion: We are going to continue to spend time with the Stations of the Cross, the fourteen different moments on the day Jesus died for us. This helps us grow so much closer to Jesus especially during this Lenten season.

Each Wednesday leading up to Lent, at 1:50 PM, we will be attending Stations of the Cross as a school. Please join if your schedule allows!

social studies: We continue working in our collaborative California Native American Indian groups this week! We will work on researching our specific tribes and taking effective notes on the information we learned.

science: All about the Solar System and its outer planets!

Thank you all for your continued support!

Have a wonderful week!

Blessings,
Miss Poindexter
