Dear Parents,            August 25, 2014

It was wonderful seeing many of you at Back-to-School Night! Thank you for your constant support of SHS! To those whose schedules prevented you from attending, if you have any questions please be sure to email me and keep a watchful eye on our weekly newsletters!

In Language Arts we continue to work on Kindergarten Review.

In Writing we will continue with the stories we started last week. We will be focusing on how to plan our stories!

In Math we will work on comparing numbers and continue our work on tally marks! We will also continue with our games (yay!) There will be homework this week in math. If a worksheet page is indicated as homework it will be in the red homework folder and after completing the worksheet it should be returned to school in the red homework folder.

In Social Studies we will be able to preview our vocabulary and begin our first lesson: We Learn at School!

Science has us beginning our study of plants!

In Religion, we are learning that God is Good! We will also be learning about the story of creation.

Announcements:

  • Your children did a wonderful job returning their red homework folder and daily planner to school every day last week.  Please make sure to sign each day (in the comment box) indicating that you have checked their homework.
  • Remember to read 20 minutes each night during the week and twice over the weekend. Please do not forget to record it on the Reading Log and return to school each day!
  • We will visit the school library Tuesday and will check out a book.  As a reminder, the children can bring their books home but they MUST be returned to school each Tuesday in order for them to check out a new book.
  • Remember PE uniforms on Tuesday! Please make sure that long hair is pulled back and all students are wearing tennis shoes.
  • Friday is a noon-dismissal day and the start to a long weekend as there will be no school on Monday September 1st.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.  Have a wonderful week!
Ms. Manning
