Hello Second Grade Families,

Happy 100th Day!

I look forward to seeing everyone Friday morning for Parent’s Day! Our class will be working together on an art project. Plan to meet us in the church for 8:30 mass so that we may begin the day together.

Math: The first half of this week was devoted to reviewing and wrapping up Unit 4 with a chapter test. The second half will be all about beginning our next unit: 3D and 2D shapes. We will do a series of explorations as we familiarize ourselves with points, line segments and various attributes of geometric figures.

For IXL homework this week, please complete the following skills:

I.3 Addition with 3 digit numbers

T.2 Select the 2D shape

Reading: We continue to make our way through the phonics workshop, this week turning our focus to new content. We will learn all about r-controlled vowels before preparing lessons for our new class mascot!

Word Work: Since it’s a short week, our next spelling test will be on Tuesday!

Science: This week’s lab will find us gardening in our classroom as we plant grass and prepare to redirect its growth.

Religion: The students will spend some time taking a closer examination of the SLEs, this time focusing on the A strand: “As growing Catholics, we…”. After that, we’ll begin Chapter 15 in preparation for First Reconciliation.

Have a great week!

Ms. Espinosa
