A SNEAK PEEK AT OUR ACADEMICS

READING:  We are learning how to amp our reading power by becoming fluent readers. We are learning to read in longer phrases by noticing the punctuation. Punctuation signals readers to know what words to scoop up as they read and when to take a breath.

PHONICS: We are learning how to be word builders by using different strategies (using big parts, recording each syllable, checking for vowels in each syllable, using words we know, and checking if the word looks right) to help us check and write really important words.

SPELLING: Spelling tests will be on Monday, March 8.

MATH: We are learning how to solve multiplication stories using arrays and multiplication diagrams. We are also learning about division by making equal groups of things.

RELIGION: In Chapter 17, we learn about the different ministries at Mass, the purpose of the Introductory Rites of the Mass, the Penitential Act, the Gloria, and the Collect Prayer.

WRITER’S WORKSHOP: We continue writing opinions about our favorite books by nominating our favorite books for awards. We are learning to add punctuation to our sentences as we continue to write more across the pages.

SOCIAL STUDIES: We continue working on our personal timelines. We also continue learning about things that happened long ago and things that happened yesterday.

SCIENCE: We will take a break from science this week.
