Dear Third Grade Parents and Families,
What a joy it was spending Friday morning with you! From both myself and the students of third grade: WE APPRECIATE YOU. Again, thank you for your support both in and outside the classroom as teaching and learning are shared responsibilities.
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner so we will be making mailboxes out of cereal boxes this week. Please send a box covered in red, white or pink construction paper with your child to school by Tuesday. You only need to cover the sides. The top flaps can be cut off and the bottom won’t be seen. The students will be decorating the boxes in class. Likewise, I am asking that your child bring a Valentine for each child in class. I will send home a list of names Tuesday with your child’s work. Please have your child sign his or her own name on the card and address the card with the names of his or her classmates. Although this takes some time, it will help with our cursive practice.
This Tuesday you will also be receiving the permission slip for our second field trip. On Wednesday, February 16th we will be going along with the fifth grade to the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History’s Planetarium! Once there, we will enjoy a show geared specifically to the third grade Earth Science standards followed by a guided tour of the museum. The cost is $9.50 per child which includes the planetarium show and museum tour as well as the bus. Please return the completed permission slip as well as the $9.50 this week. More information to follow in next week’s newsletter.
Please remind your child to bring his or her library book on Tuesday so that new ones may be checked out.
Have a super week!
Mrs. Espinosa
