Hello Third Grade Families,

Memorial Day is fast approaching! Friday is a school holiday as well as Monday. Enjoy the break as we prepare for this home stretch of the academic year.

Soon after our return, the class will be going on our last field trip. On Wednesday, June 1st we will be going to the Camarillo Public Library, along with the second grade, for a behind-the-scenes tour! Keep an eye on your e-mail inbox as permission slips will be sent out this afternoon.

Math: We continue with Chapter 10: Measurement and Data. This week will be all about capacity before we move into learning about finding the mean and median of data sets.

M.11 Multi-Step Word Problems

Reading: Students will continue to review key skills taught throughout the school year. Likewise, the class will complete reading (fiction and non-fiction) comprehension assessments.

Reading Log: Students should log in a minimum of 100 minutes of reading this week.

There will be no fluency homework this week.

Writer’s Worskhop: We have moved on from drafting and into revising and publishing our opinion pieces. Students are encouraged to carefully look through their “checklists” (rubrics) and they find areas to improve upon before completing final drafts.

Word Work: New words are going home today. Our next spelling test is scheduled for next Thursday, June 2nd.

Religion: We will continue with the Family Life unit.
